We’re doing something brand new at Homerville Free Will Baptist!

On September 27, we’re having our first-ever Tailgate Sunday, and we want our entire church family to get involved!

Come to church wearing your favorite team gear, worship with us, and then stick around afterward for an afternoon of great food, games, fellowship, and fun.

And don’t come alone! Tailgate Sunday is a great opportunity to invite an unchurched friend, family member, neighbor, or coworker to come experience our church family.

HOW TAILGATE SUNDAY WORKS

Each of our Sunday School classes will create its own tailgate area outside the church.

Before the worship service, classes will set up their tents, decorate their areas, and get everything ready for the afternoon.

After the service, the tailgate begins!

Each class will gather at its tailgate area with food to share, and we’ll enjoy the afternoon together.

The church will also provide:

Tailgate-themed games and activities

FREE SnowBiz shaved ice

Tables and chairs

Plenty of opportunities to eat, laugh, meet new people, and have a great time together!

THE 100 IN SUNDAY SCHOOL CHALLENGE

We have another goal for September:

LET’S GET 100 PEOPLE IN SUNDAY SCHOOL!

Our challenge is to have 100 people attend Sunday School on the same Sunday during the month of September.

And there’s a little extra motivation...

IF WE HIT 100, PASTOR THOMAS GETS SLIMED AT TAILGATE SUNDAY!

So invite somebody, bring your family, and help us reach 100!

Of course, this is about more than a number—or getting to dump slime on the pastor!

Sunday School is one of the best ways to get connected to other people, build relationships, study God’s Word together, and find your place in our church family.

GET CONNECTED. GET INVOLVED. INVITE SOMEBODY.

There are three ways everyone can be part of Tailgate Sunday:

GET CONNECTED

If Homerville Free Will is your church but you’re not currently connected to a Sunday School class, September is the perfect time to jump in!

You don’t have to wait until Tailgate Sunday. Join a class this Sunday, meet some people, and become part of what they’re planning.

GET INVOLVED

If you’re already part of a Sunday School class, don’t leave all the work to a few people!

Talk to your teacher and find out how you can help. You might bring food, help decorate, set up a tent, help clean up, or simply lend a hand wherever it’s needed.

Everybody can do something.

When everyone pitches in, nobody has to do everything—and we can all enjoy the day together.

INVITE SOMEBODY

This is the big one!

Think about someone in your life who doesn’t currently have a church home and personally invite them to come with you.

You don't have to make it complicated. Just say:

“Come to church with me September 27th! We’re having Tailgate Sunday afterward with food, games, shaved ice, and a lot of fun.”

Let’s use this day to welcome people, build relationships, and introduce them to a church family that cares about them.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

If you're part of a Sunday School class, your class will work together to decide what food to bring and how to decorate your tailgate area.

Think game-day food: burgers, hot dogs, BBQ, wings, sliders, nachos, dips, chips, drinks, and all your favorite tailgate foods.

We’re asking families to bring enough food for their family plus a guest family, so we'll have plenty to share with the people we invite.

Don't feel like you have to do everything yourself. Work together as a class and divide up the responsibilities.

And remember: SnowBiz shaved ice is on us!

NOT IN A SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS YET?

We'd love to help you find one!

You don't have to know which class you should attend, and you don't have to figure it out on your own.

Below you'll find our Sunday School classes and teachers. Reach out to one of them and let them know you'd like to get connected and help with Tailgate Sunday.
